Phone Specs Terms Glossary
In Mobile Phone’s Specification Table’s Build & Body includes following terms:
Build & Body
What is OS / Operating System?
#1 OS stands for operating system, it’s a system software that manages mobile phone’s hardware, software resources & provides common services for mobile phone programs. Furthermore, for hardware functions such as input, output & memory allocation, the operating system acts as an intermediary between programs & the Phone’s hardware. Although, the application code is usually executed directly by the hardware & frequently makes system calls to an OS function or is interrupted by it. Operating systems are found on many devices that contain a computer – from cellular phones and video game consoles to web servers & supercomputers.
What is “Dimensions”?
#2 Dimensions The dimension of an object is informally defined as the minimum number of coordinates needed to specify any point within it. Thus a line has a dimension of one (1D) because only one coordinate is needed to specify a point on it – for example, a surface such as a phone has a dimension of three (3D). (Phone’s 3D shown in photo, below)
What is Weight?
#3 Weight is a body’s relative mass or the quantity of matter contained by it, giving rise to a downward force; the heaviness of a person or thing. A phone’s relative mass or quantity of matter contained by it, is called it’s Weight.
What is Build?
#4 Build is all about the type of material used in manufacturing the specific mobile phone e.g Glass, Plastic & other such material.
What is SIM?
#5 SIM stands for The Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) is a computer memory card that you insert into your cellphone to allow the phone to sign in to your carrier’s network or another network you might use, while roaming.
What is Battery & Battery Charging?
#6 Battery is an electronic cell (or enclosed and protected material) that can be charged electrically to provide a static potential for power or released electrical charge when needed. A battery generally consists of an anode, a cathode, and an electrolyte.
mAh means milliamp Hour and is a unit that measures (electric) power over time. It is commonly used to measure the energy capacity of a battery. In general, the more mAh and the longer the battery capacity or battery life. A higher number means that the battery can store more energy, so it has a higher capacity.
What is “Colors”?
All the available colors of a specific mobile phone. It tells users that the mobile phone is launched in which colors.
